FAWCO Affiliation

The Federation of American Women's Clubs Overseas is an international network of 78 clubs in 35 countries around the world. The American Women's Club of Brussels is one of its largest member clubs.

Combined membership of over 17,000 women.
United Nations accredited non-governmental organization (NGO) with special consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC).
Support network and umbrella organization for members of American Women's Clubs living and working abroad.
Active in the fields of US citizen's concerns, education and literacy, environmental protection and women's and children's rights.

Membership

Every member of a FAWCO club is automatically a member of FAWCO and is eligible to serve on committees, participate in conferences and meetings, and take part in activities.

Student and house exchanges with FAWCO families.
Participation in NGO meetings on issues of importance to you.
Attendance of regional meetings and annual conferences.
Participation in FAWCO committees.
Access to information on women's health, voting from overseas, educational support for children with special challenges, environmental projects around the world, literacy projects you can support or participate in, legislation in Washington that concerns US citizens living abroad.
You, your children and your pet charitable projects are eligible for FAWCO Foundation Scholarships and Relief and Development Awards. In 2001 The Foundation awarded $32,500 in scholarships and $20,000 to projects essentially to the benefit of women and children in developing countries.
Immediate, built-in support network through a local AWC should you move to another country or through FAWCO Alumnae USA should you return to the United States.
