Amitié Belgo Americaine

Amitié Belgo Americaine (ABA) began in 1945 by a group of Belgians to promote friendship and understanding between our two countries. Under the energetic leadership of Countess Grocholski, and with Belgian friends as organizers ABA members were treated to tour châteaux rarely open to the public. Today, the ABA events are open to all members and hope to relay “thank you and you are welcome” to grateful Belgians. Chateau tours were a staple sign of Belgian hospitality by our Belgian hosts for AWCB members for over 60 years. As unofficial diplomats in Belgium The ABA  participates in numerous Belgian charitable services to show our thanks to this welcoming host nation.

Participating in ABA events allows a means to demonstrate friendship between our two countries and other nationalities. We place wreaths of flowers at the American military Cemeteries in Belgium during Memorial Day Ceremonies. From our Belgian location, we can stay mindful of historical errors and promote international understanding for a better future. ABA is currently running a series of interviews entitled: Cameo of Heroes. In this series, individuals who experienced first hand the ravages of WWII are interviewed in front of a live audience under a human interest topic.
