Reading Group members are invited to register for the discussion evening, kindly hosted by Monika. The exact location will be shared with confirmed participants.

Reading Group guidelines/criteria:

We look for great authors who write in English, available for purchase in shops or online, not more than 300-400 pages, and prefer those that have a score of at least 4/5 on Goodreads. The books do not have to be recent; they can also be ones you loved, and we might have missed.

Interested in joining the Reading Group?

The Reading Group meets in member's homes in Brussels and the surrounding area. As such, it is restricted to members of the AWCB and ACB. Current members of the AWCB and ACB are encouraged to reach out bookclub@awcb.org with any questions.

Non members can find the conditions to join either club on their respective websites.

Join us at All Saints Church to sew and stuff specially heart shaped pillows. All pillows are donated free of charge by AWCB to patients recovering from breast cancer at UZ Leuven and Bordet hospitals.

Would you like to join our wonderful group? No sewing experience is required -you may cut, trace, stuff, stitch or help us set up/cleanup for lunch after our pillow making gathering. For more information email hope@awcb.org

Join us at the Summer Bar on the back patio of Kasteel Huldenberg! Huldenberg is a short distance from Overijse. The owner of the kasteel enjoys running a pop-up bar on his property both in Summer and Winter seasons and serves beer and wines from his wife's Spanish winery. There are also sodas, water, and potato chips. The bar is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings from 7 pm to 11 pm; and the upcoming dates are June 4,5,6,11,12,13,18,19,20,25,26,27. Our club has scheduled several times to attend when we know that some members will be in attendance, but please go on whatever dates are good for you!

Drive through the open gates and park in the large circular driveway in front of the kasteel.Walk around to the back of the property. We will see you there!

COME JOIN THE AWCB TEAM!

AWCB is proud to once again actively support Relay for Life. We will have our tent selling cookies, cushions and key fobs, plus we will have Walkers out on the field. So come join the team!

We need people to volunteer to put the tent up, to walk (in one hour slots), to staff the tent and of course to help bake and sew! This is a GREAT cause that we are always so welcomed at.

Come join the Sewing Party on 3rd June, offer to bake some cookies for the event or volunteer a few hours on the day itself. Lets team up and make this another success!

Join us at Donna's home to practice conversational French!

Dates: Every other Tuesday afternoon from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. The exact address will be emailed to registrants in the Reminder email sent 2 days before the class.

Teachers: classes taught at Donna's home will be split between Aglaia Ponomareva and Sophie d'Assche.

Material: We recommend that participants purchase the book "French Conversation Made Natural" by Language Guru (1st edition) for classes held at Donna's home. It is available on Amazon.com.be

Transport: paid street parking is available in the surrounding streets, and her home is about halfway between Merode and Montgomery public transport stations.

Join us for a guided tour of the Tom Frantzen Sculpture Garden!

Come join us as we have a guided tour of Tom Frantzen's private sculpture garden! Drinks and snacks are available for purchase at the garden facilities. Our group will be led with a guide over an estimated time of 2 hours. Tour start time is 2 pm.

Tom Frantzen is a Flemish contemporary sculpture artist. Many of us have seen his sculptures throughout Belgium.

We must pre-pay for the guide, so no refunds are possible within two weeks of the event.

Bowling Night is open to AWCB Members, partner Club members and guests. Test your skills against our hostess, the Dancing Bowler, at this fun filled event. Come join us to celebrate 250th Independence Day (4th of July) Celebration hosted by the AWCB, with a BBQ and music! Due to the success of the past two years parties, we needed a bigger space! So how about a castle and its beautiful grounds? Very easy to access via exit 3 of the E411 and just next to the town of Overijse with loads of parking. Public transport info coming soon!

The event starts at 3pm with welcome drinks, whilst the bbq (cooked by the AWCBs own Chefs!) will commence at 5pm.

Price includes entrance, music, 2 drink tickets, a burger, a hot dog, sides & pie! Additional drinks available from the paid bar. Music will be supplied by our very own DJ!

This event is open to AWCB members and their guests, all Partner and FAWCO Clubs (with registration code), and customers of American Groceries Europe (with registration code). Bring your families and friends and join us to celebrate this special and unique day.

AWCB Flea Market Fundraiser or

Rent a Stall for your own Junk Sale!

American Groceries Europe has rented 6 stall spaces in front of its store for the town of Overijse's Markt Dag during the Druivenfeesten festival.

You can donate items to be sold for the AWCB Charitable Fund or you can rent a stall from AGE to have your own sale. We'd also love to have volunteers come for several hours to help man the stalls!

Refreshments and the AGE lounge are available for volunteers or AWCB club members that come visit the festival that day. Donations of items can be dropped off at the American Groceries Europe store on Saturdays before August 22.

The AWCB is delighted to again have been invited to the wonderful private Le Val Richer estate in Normandy for this Members (and their Guests) Only event. Stay in this private, family chateau, eat dinner at 8 pm, tour the Normandy beaches and museums, sample the local cider, relax with a good book and enjoy the superb luxury of the Val Richer in the company of your Club friends.

Agenda

Breakfast, lunch and dinner (with wine) is included, along with wonderful rooms and excellent company with your fellow Club members and friends. Optional tours are being arranged for each day as follows (all costs payable locally and using your own cars for transport):

Accommodation

As each room is slightly different in price, below is a GUIDE only. Please note that all prices include your meals taken in the House. All arrangements will be handled individually by email - you will be contacted after you register to determine your room choice. Those of limited mobility will always be given the first choice.

Main House Gallery 1st Floor Double Rooms (en suite) - Double Occupancy 78 euros per person per night, Single Occupancy 94 euros per night. 5 rooms available.
Main House Aile Double Rooms (en suite) - Double Occupancy 76 euros per person per night, Single Occupancy 89 euros per night. 7 rooms available, including 1 wheelchair accesible.
Main House Aile Double Rooms (toilet & sink, shared bathroom) - Double Occupancy 73 euros per person per night, Single Occupancy 83 euros per person per night. 2 rooms available.
Ferme (newly renovated rooms in building adjacent to Main House; en suite) - Double Occupancy 76 euros per person per night, Single Occupancy 89 euros per night. 4 rooms available.
Ferme (newly renovated rooms in building adjacent to Main House; detached dedicated bathroom) - Double Occupancy 73 euros per person per night, Single Occupancy 83 euros per person per night. 1 room available

Additional Charges

Per person Sojourn tax (per person per STAY) - 8 euros
Credit Card Payment Fee - 3% (waived if paid by bank transfer)
All meals and entrance fees for visits outside the House

Arrangements

Your initial booking fee covers the costs of the Club and makes a small contribution towards the Val Richer maintenance fund
A dedicated WhatsApp Group will be set up for all registrants for final arrangements and to enable Members to arrange car pooling between themselves
All Registrants will be contacted by the Secretary after registration to discuss room availability and preference; note that priority for accessible rooms will go to those of limited mobility
You do not have to stay the whole time; you can choose to arrive and/or leave on a different day, depending on your availability

The All Saints Church community has invited the AWCB members to attend their annual Sunday Thanksgiving potluck luncheon.

All our members (and their guests) may register. The church organizer asks that people bring a portion to feed 6 people of either a Vegetable dish, Salad, or Dessert. If two people attend, then a dish to serve 12 people. Additionally we request our members to take a bottle of wine, soda, etc. to say thank you!

Registration CLOSES November 17th as the Church has requested number of attendees by that date.

We will contact you a week before to ask about the dish you are bringing for planning by All Saints Church for the luncheon.

Thank you for being part of our Angel Tree family ! Now it's time to celebrate everything we have accomplished in order to make the holiday season special for children in need.

The wrapping party will be held at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Waterloo followed-up with a celebratory lunch provided by the club.

We'll be wrapping it up and getting all of our gifts organized to be distributed to the charities we are supporting.

We have the wrapping paper, tape, gift tags and scissors , all we need from you is your gift wrapping skills and Angel Tree cheer.

Join us at the Winter Bar in the cellar of Kasteel Huldenberg! Huldenberg is a short distance from Overijse. Our club has scheduled to go on Friday nights, but please go whenever you'd like!

The entrance to the property is marked with a lighted "Winter Bar" sign. Drive through the open gates and park in the large circular driveway in front of the kasteel. The cellar entrance is to the left of the property down stairs, then straight to the end of the hallway through a closed door. We will see you there!

2027 Annual General Meeting & Potluck Dinner

The Annual General Meeting will be held on Thursday 3rd June, 2027 at All Saints Church, Waterloo. This will be preceded by a Pot Luck Dinner at 6pm, with the AGM starting around 7:30pm. All Members are invited to attend! We also call for people to volunteer to join the Board; please contact board@awcb.org if you are interested.
