Dear {Contact_First_Name},

A Happy New Year to you all! I hope this year brings you good health, happiness and all that can be important for you and for you loved ones. As you probably know, at the 7th of January General Assembly, I have proposed myself, among others, who feel that they can be of value to the club, to come and serve thru its interim board until June 2024. So, I proudly present our new board:

  • Florence Jeannin, President
  • Jan Allen, VP1
  • Aglaia Ponomareva, VP2
  • Kristen Crosson, Treasurer
  • Chris Stone, Secretary
  • Cécile Abric, Director at Large

Our General Assembly had some tough moments. It was clear that there were several misunderstandings at the root cause. I believe we demonstrated that our affairs are in good order and following the new Belgian legislation. After my first weeks in the board, I have also seen that the club’s assets are safely secured and being managed well.

The board has committed to meet every 6-8 weeks in person. We will also start holding a quarterly member’s meeting to share updates and have an active exchange of feedback, as well as launch an investment committee.

My goal now is to get our club rallied together and focused on our longstanding values of friendship, philanthropy and FUN – with a big dose of smiles and laughter!  I encourage all our members to join me on the path forward. Do be actively involved in the club’s activities and the American spirit of kindness, fortitude and optimism!

On this note, I’m happy to report our last board meeting accepted five new members:

  • Catharine Dhoop-Freeman
  • Linda Danielson
  • Lidia Rossiello
  • Bettina Hansen
  • Amanda Procknal

It is a deep joy to welcome you ladies among us, your new friendship is precious to us, please do join in upcoming events so we can get to know you better!!  Please also consider volunteering for the club, you can reach out to me at

We have an exciting February and March coming your way with many opportunities to get together, so do check the AWCB calendar regularly and join us to meet old friends and new - this is what our club is for!   I am excited to announce that a new activity will be celebrating our birthdays!  The first birthday celebration will be to celebrate members born in January and February.  Cecile Abric, whose birthday was January 20th, has graciously offered to host this party in her home in Uccle on February 9th. Please note that all members are welcome to attend!

Last but not least, I’m so happy to say that Marty Niebel has accepted to again be the committee lead of our HOPE association, which covers all of our philanthropic work  including our well known charity programs such as Angel Tree, Hearts for Hope, and many other projects that support the local community.  Please reach out to  for more information on how you can get involved!

I’m honored and pleased to be able to serve all our lovely ladies as well as our handful of very helpful gentleman!

Have a great day,

Florence Jeannin

Join the new Investment Advisory Committee!

Chaired by Cecile Abric, the goal of the committee is to gather members’ ideas on how best to invest our Club’s money in the future. The ideas gathered will be priced and processed, and the ones that receive unanimous enthusiasm from all members of the committee will be passed on to the Board as recommendations for the future.

Interested? Please reach out to before Feb. 12th with a short motivation statement. In order to ensure a good cross section representation of our members, and to ensure a smooth working process with a reasonable number of Committee members, your AWCB Board will review and approve the Committee members in the next coming Board Meeting of February 17th.  Let’s work together to ensure a bright financial future for our club!

AWCB Angel Tree 2023-A Gift of Love, 360 Times Over!

Thank you to those who sponsored children, made a monetary donation, and/or helped wrap gifts, your support was so precious and made it possible for the AWCB to bring joy to the hearts of 360 children across six charities in our city on Saint Nicolas Day, December 6th, 2023. One of these charities is member Nancy Evans’s “ Project Lina” charity, for which we donated presents to 50 children that her association helps throughout the year by taking them, for example on a seashore holiday, or by helping with school materials.

Angel Tree is a true labor of love for AWCB, made possible by your contributions. Your commitment to keeping this long standing tradition alive has not only touched lives but has made the holiday season truly special for those in need.

Exhibition Magic Flying Carpet at Foundation Frison Horta

This special exhibition, "Magic Flying Carpets," seamlessly bridged East and West cultures, and was a collaborative effort with the Embassy of Azerbaijan and curated by member Aglaia Ponomareva of Ponart Consulting. It was hosted at Maison Frison, built in 1884 for Maurice Frison by Victor Horta.

Visitors were treated to an exclusive tour of the ground and first floors by Napur Tron, owner of Maison Frison and founder of Foundation Frison Horta. This invitation-only experience was truly enchanting. For further details on Foundation Frison Horta and Napur Tron, please visit
