Ines SIEPMANN will present the book “A CALLING FOR CHARLIE BARNES” written by Joshua Ferris.
Joshua Ferris is an American author and lives in New York. “A calling for Charlie Barnes" is Joshua Ferris's fourth book, and cements him as a key author in the comedic fiction category, telling stories of everyday relatable life with humour and prose. His first novel, "Then We Came to the End" was published in 2007 and was a finalist for the National Book Award as well as received the PEN/Hemingway Award. He has also published multiple short stories. This novel, "A calling for Charlie Barnes," has received positive reviews and was included in the New York Times 100 Notable Books of 2021.
"A Calling for Charlie Barnes" is about the many lives of one man, told by his son, the narrator. The narrator describes his father's life through dozens of jobs, multiple wives, assorted children, and difficulties in health towards the end of his life. He tries to separate the truth from fiction, and identify who actually his father was and what family stories are genuine.

About the Reading Group
Once a month, you are invited to join our evening Reading Group get-together, to discuss the book-of-the-month, which is written by an American or Canadian author. We meet in the Brussels area, on the second Wednesday of the month, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
We often share a meal together while sharing views on the book-of-the-month! And also, info about good reads we have enjoyed. All contributions to the conversation are welcome!
