    Join the AWCB team in supporting the International Community & Waterloo Relay for Life!

    What is Relay for Life?

    Relay For Life is a festive event for all ages that focuses on solidarity and fund-raising for the fight against cancer. Over 24 hours, the community members mobilize themselves in order to:

    • Celebrate and pay tribute to people that have conquered cancer, and support those that are still fighting the disease;
    • Remember people that have lost their fight against cancer and support those still fighting the disease;
    • Stand united in the fight against cancer.

    Sponsored teams relay for 24 hours. The 24 hours are a symbol of the constant battle patients and their families must endure in the fight against the disease. Relay For Life is not a competition, but rather a gathering of communities united in the fight against cancer.

    How can you participate?

    Join our team - register here to join us in the relay! You can walk, run, or help man our tent - we will establish shifts as the event gets closer and even if you can only come for a short period, we would be thrilled to have you!

    Help us plan - we will need help coordinating the schedule as well as items for fundraising at the event. Some preliminary ideas are making crafts from the Hearts for HOPE scraps, selling cookies, or some sort of interactive experience. Have an idea or want to help out? Let us know

    Hope to see you there!

    The Canadian Club of Brussels, the American Club of Brussels, and the American Women's Club of Brussels invite you to our monthly reading group on the second Wednesday of the month.

    On Wednesday May 8 from 7:00 pm till 9:00 pm, Lynn FORTIN will present the excellent book, “SWEETNESS IN THE BELLY," written by Camilla GIBB who was English-born but grew up in Toronto.  Gibb received a Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology and Middle Eastern studies from the University of Toronto and a Doctor of Philosophy in social anthropology from the University of Oxford. In 2000, she left academia in order to pursue writing full time.

    This book is the story of what happens to a young Irish girl abandoned in Morocco when her parents are murdered. Alone in the world, her search for home and family takes her down some surprising paths.

    The meeting location will be announced shortly. In the meantime, please contact reading group coordinator, Geneviève Bergiers, with questions or to register: 02 660 57 65.

    Please note that participants must be a member of either the CCB, the ACB or the AWCB.
